Q. What is the best size for my needs?

A. Our typical sizes range from the smaller 5x5 unit all the way up to 10x30. Some of our facilities have even larger sizes than the 10x30 and in different configurations (dimensions are approximate). If you’re new to storage rental it’s really helpful to visit the facility near you and take a tour. Also, the Unit Size Estimator helps you determine what size will work the best. You can always rely on our knowledgeable staff to help you choose the right size.

Q. What is the time commitment for renting a space?

A. At Securlock you are welcome to stay as long as you need to. Lease agreements are month to month to accommodate short-term or long-term needs.

Q. What are heated and cooled units?

A. These units are cooled in the summer and warmed in the winter to help protect your items from the temperature swings we can have during the seasons of the year. These units are located inside of a building typically with a few locations offering drive up heated and cooled units. The systems are much like the HVAC system you have at home or in your apartment.

Q. Are Outside units the same as Drive Up Access units?

A. Yes, they are the same. The Outside units are sometimes referred to as Drive Up Access units. These are located along main drive aisles where you can pull right up to the unit door, open it, and easily load or unload your items into the space. These units are really convenient for daily use by businesses, and individuals using the facility on a frequent basis.

Q. What hours can I access my rental unit?

A. All Securlock locations have gate access hours of 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, 7 days a week and 365 days a year including holidays and weekends. However, the facility office does not need to be open for you to access your unit. Should you need occasional access outside of the normal business hours, please contact your store manager for details.

Q. How do I access the property?

A. After registering, you‘ll be given a unique access code for entry. This code is entered on a keypad located at the gate and is used to enter and exit the property. Some properties offer remote control gate openers for a small monthly charge.

Q. Can others access my rental unit?

A. Only one code is provided per renter, unless you request additional access permission for family, friends, or employees. If you wish, you can assign separate codes to your accessor list. This allows monitoring of access frequency and unit entry tracking should you need it.

Q. How do I reserve the free moving truck to assist with my move in process?

A. Simply contact the staff at the facility where you will be renting and arrange the truck reservation (subject to availability). As this is a popular offering, advanced booking is required to take advantage of the free moving truck at move in.

Q. Do I need to bring my own lock when I move in?

A. Securlock sells the highest quality locks in the industry at affordable prices, so you don’t need to go out of your way and buy your own lock. Our disc locks and cylinder locks are designed specifically for the storage industry. Each comes with a set of keys that you keep. Some of our properties, as part of the security package, only use the specialty cylinder lock thus requiring purchase at the store. The cylinder lock offers the highest level of security in locking systems in our industry. Your manager will advise you of the locking system used at their facility.

Q. Will you allow companies to ship some items directly to my unit (without requiring me to be there)?

A. Yes, we do! Customers can use the free Package and Delivery Acceptance (PDA) feature to have goods shipped directly to their unit. First, you sign the PDA form, leave us one of your keys, and when UPS, FedEx, or another delivery firm arrives with your goods, we direct them to your unit. This is a common practice of the finer storage facilities so delivery companies are very familiar with it. However, large equipment deliveries or forklifted items require you to be present.

Q. What methods of payment to do you accept?

A. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, checks, and cash. Automated payments via credit card or debit card are easy to set up at the office or on the web site.

Q. How early should I reserve a unit?

A. You can reserve a rental unit up to 7 days out. In some cases you can extend the reservation period. An exact time and date is preferred but not necessary because of the unpredictable nature of movers, drive time, etc. Your location manager will attempt to accommodate your needs no matter when you arrive.

Q. What other products and services do you offer?

A. Each of our stores carries several sizes of moving boxes ranging from small to extra large, and every size in between. We have all the standard box sizes customers look for, plus some of the hard to find sizes like wardrobe boxes, mirror boxes, and appliance boxes. Other items available include packing paper, foam peanuts, mattress covers, chair covers, and tape.
